Update on Rhonda Brandenburg
UPDATE ON Rhonda Brandenburg
Rhonda was brought to the ER by ambulance yesterday morning for breathing issues and extreme weakness. When we arrived they discovered that she had infections, her blood pressure was very low and her blood oxygen was low. It got very serious in the night as they struggled to get her breathing correctly and to lower the CO2 levels in her blood. She became very unresponsive. She was moved from the ER to ICU after about 11 hours in the ER.
She had a difficult night, but is slowly improving. She is certainly better than she was yesterday when we brought her in and even better than when she entered the ICU, but has a very long way to go. She has three different pretty nasty infections (lungs, leg, urinary) which are being treated with several antibiotics. She has had these infections before and they are a recurring issue. She is also dealing with serious fluid retention. Her breathing, blood oxygen levels, and blood pressure are not where we need them to be. Some of the treatments are complicated because she is on blood thinners. She is on a breathing tube to help her get the oxygen that she needs and to help rid her body of the CO2. She is still very sick, yet is fighting through these things. She is much more alert than yesterday and especially responding to the conversations with our sons (She did smack Zach at one point, which we took to be a very good sign) .
Thank you for your continued prayer and messages. Specific requests are:
Breathing to improve
Blood pressure levels to rise
Infections to be identified and then to respond to the treatments.
Wisdom for the doctors and staff as they have to decide how to treat some of these complicated issues.
Her spirits (having all of her children here is a help and blessing).
The staff at Royal Oak Beaumont in Royal Oak, Michigan have been wonderful. Thank you fto all who have reached out to us for your love and support.
